What can I expect from a new window purchase?
You can expect improved energy performance and comfort in your home. One of the reasons your new windows will perform better is due to improved glass technology. Kolbe windows utilize LoE2 insulating glass with argon gas.* This glazing system allows for optimal energy performance. The LoE2 glass reflects roomside heat back into the room during winter, reducing your heating bill costs. It also selectively filters out the sun's harmful UV rays, providing protection against fading of furniture, fabrics and carpeting. Improved energy performance and comfort will come from proper, up-to-date installation methods to eliminate leaks around your windows. You can also expect that new Kolbe wood or vinyl windows will provide benefits such as low maintenance care, easy operation and easy cleaning.
*Standard on wood and aluminum clad windows, optional on vinyl windows.
Will replacing my windows reduce my visible glass size and lead to expensive trim and siding replacement?
There are two options in windows replacement. One option is to install a "pocket" or "insert" window. You will notice a reduction in visible glass size; however, this popular approach to window replacement does not disturb your interior trim and has minimal impact on your exterior trim. No expensive siding replacement or adjustment is required. Another popular approach is a "full frame" replacement. This is accomplished by replacing your entire window frame, as well as your interior and exterior trim. This method does not reduce your visible glass size and your siding remains virtually untouched. Both of these installation methods can be accomplished easily throughout the fall and winter seasons and provides you with immediate energy savings.
